At Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC (ITAP) 2024, A*STAR SIMTech supported A*STAR to showcase its pivotal role in driving the future of advanced manufacturing and digital transformation. As a leading innovation centre in SEA, A*STAR SIMTech demonstrated cutting-edge solutions in smart manufacturing, robotics, Industry 4.0, and sustainable industrial practices. It also spotlighted the SWIFT initiative—the òòò½ÍøWorkforce Institute of Future Transformation—to train workforce in AI-driven manufacturing.

Aligned to ITAP's overall theme, A*STAR Booth's theme this year was “AI-Powered Next Gen Manufacturing: Smarter, Greener and More Connected”. It aims to show how A*STAR works with partners to co-develop innovations for Next Generation Manufacturing by focusing on making manufacturing smarter, greener, and more connected, powered by AI while weaving in elements of sustainability, resilience, and human centricity, to meet present and upcoming industry needs.

These Smarter, Greener, and More Connected technologies came together in various key A*STAR initiatives that were highlighted at the booth through:

A*STAR Battery Centre & Partners – 5 Stations

  • Next Gen Materials Development
  • Battery System Design
  • Diagnostics & Battery Disassembly for retired batteries (3 & 4)
  • Repurposed EV Battery for 2nd Life - A Use Case

There were 5 tech demonstrators in material development, design simulation, diagnostics, battery disassembly and 2nd life application, showcasing partnerships with Orient Technology, Siemens, HIOKI and Hyundai.

AI for Manufacturing – 2 stations

  • 1 Voice-controlled Game Station (in partnership with National Robotics Programme)
  • 1 station for information and use cases from Sectorial AIMfg COE

Tech Brew Corner - shedding light on A*STAR diverse technology offerings to meet the growing trend towards smart and sustainable manufacturing.

Dr Wang Wei also led a session on AI transforming manufacturing, stressing collaboration, domain-specific integration, safety, and upskilling while Dr Ng Huey Yuen partook in an AI standards and regulation panel, highlighting frameworks like ISO 42001 for secure adoption.
