Tools for Smarter and Safer Maritime Fuel Operations
The "Dispersion Analysis and Simulations for Handling (DASH) of Future Fuels" project, led by A*STAR, is developing a multi-fidelity planning tool to predict ammonia and methanol dispersion during accidental bunkering leakages. This collaborative initiative aims to create a comprehensive safety and risk management system for future marine fuels, integrating dispersion analysis, consequence simulations, and real-time environmental data to develop effective preventive measures and emergency response strategies.
Liquid Natural Gas Flammable Plume From Accidental Leakage Scenario During Ship-to-ship Bunkering
The insights and tools developed through DASH will enhance public safety, inform regulatory policies, and contribute to safer bunkering operations in Singapore's port waters. The project's digital models will support commercial-scale operations, including simultaneous future fuel bunkering and cargo operations at terminals. This initiative aligns with Singapore's efforts to establish national standards for handling alternative fuels like LNG, methanol and ammonia, reinforcing its position as a leader in maritime innovation and sustainability.
